Operation Kilimanjaro lists travel or medical insurance as excluded from the climb price, and asks guests to arrange suitable cover before arrival in Moshi.
This page is not medical or insurance advice. Insurers set their own altitude limits.
Why altitude matters to insurers
Uhuru Peak is 5,895 m. Many policies exclude trekking above 4,000 m or 5,000 m unless you buy a specific extension. Ask the question in writing before you pay for the climb.
Longer routes such as Lemosho and the Northern Circuit are chosen for acclimatization. They do not remove the need for insurance.
What to line up before you leave home
Bring policy details and an emergency contact number you can reach from Tanzania. Tell us if your insurer needs a named operator or itinerary for the certificate.
